In May 2024, Algeco Netherlands completed the construction of a temporary school building for IKC De Lichtlijn in Den Helder. The new facility has been well-received by both teachers and students, who appreciate the spacious corridors, convenient classrooms, and the elegant, calming light colors that create an ideal learning environment.

The school accommodates around 110 pupils across 5 classes, including a department for ‘Peuteropvang’. It features several administrative rooms, sanitary facilities, a small kitchen, and open spaces designed for creative and communal activities.

Sustainability and safety in educational buildings

One of the key highlights of this project is the use of Algeco Fire-X units. These units are manufactured from high-quality, sustainable materials, minimizing the environmental impact. They are designed to meet strict fire resistance standards, with EI30-rated external walls and EI60-rated roofing. This makes the Fire-X units exceptionally suitable for social and educational buildings.

Quiet and calm learning environment thanks to acoustic panels in temporary school

The school is equipped with all necessary safety features, and the built-in acoustic panels are especially appreciated by both teachers and students for reducing noise, which is crucial for maintaining focus and enhancing the educational process.

The construction of the school was completed in just two weeks, with an additional three weeks dedicated to interior finishing. This type of temporary school requires thorough groundwork preparation, including foundation and tiling, to ensure proper installation and functionality.
