Sustainable look for a modular building
In a very short time, we realised a temporary school facility with the quality of a permanent school.
Scholen Park Triangel
The 'nieuwbouw scholen Park Triangle' project in Waddinxveen consisted of the realisation of a children's centre housing two primary schools and a childcare centre. Due to the explosive growth in the district, the municipality had to act quickly.
Park Triangel is a development where a commercial party has 50% of the shares and the municipality the other half. Due to the rapid growth, a temporary building was needed for the kindergarten groups. The municipality did not want to construct emergency classrooms for 15 years, but a temporary and sustainable building that also fits in with the appearance of the surroundings.

Phased approach
At the start of this project, the scope was limited to an expansion of 10 classrooms. However, due to the rapid growth of Waddinxveen, the scope was adjusted to three phases in 2021.
Phase 1 concerns the realisation of the temporary school with 10 classrooms.
Phase 2 consists of the realisation of a school facility with 8 classrooms, a gym facility and a childcare facility with 4 groups.
Phase 3 consists of the revision of the already realised school building.
In 2021, a scenario study was prepared with a demand specification for shaping the temporary school. Despite the designation 'temporary', a school building of permanent quality was desired with a permanent appearance ('Frisse scholen' class B). This demand for permanent quality stemmed from the desire to be able to educate children in a good climate and also to enable reuse for another function later in time. Algeco provided the perfect solution.
Ambitious planning
After approval of the design by boards of governors, school boards and the municipality, the brief for the temporary school was put out to tender to interested parties in a multiple procedure after the 2021 construction period. The planning for the realisation was ambitious; completion was scheduled for early August 2022 so that the building could be taken into use with the start of the school year. Completion on this date was a necessity based on the forecasts and signals from the school boards. By holding a market consultation, it was investigated how the assignment could still be realised on time. Algeco turned out to be the best partner for this project.
Compact and cosy
We have been involved from the DO phase and were awarded the project in November. After the market consultation, we worked with the architect,
users and partners, the execution phase was organised. In the process, we were able to apply visual and aesthetic optimisations, such as the gables that
match the permanent building. The preparation time was short, so in the finishing phase we decided to integrate the wash basins in the rooms into the walls. We sought a design consistent with the existing main building, but still gave it distinctive elements with staggered windows and a wooden structure, while the main building is in brick. It is clearly family, but with individuality.
It has a nice playground with a wooden fence. It is a compact and cosy building, where we are already educate 260 children. Each floor has five classrooms and a nice learning square. The five classrooms on the ground floor have an outside door and the classrooms are interconnected with connecting doors.
